The first day of every month brings 100 new MP3 albums at Amazon.com, each selling for just $5.

Amazon cleverly calls it “100 Albums for $5 Each.”

There are always some great music download deals. Among the hundred this month:

  • Parallel Lines, the pinnacle of Blondie’s greatness, and Number 140 on Rolling Stone’s 500 greatest albums of all time.
  • Come Fly With Me, featuring Frank Sinatra in all of his Capitol Records glory. In addition to the cuckoo title track, you get “Autumn In New York,” “Moonlight In Vermont,” “April In Paris,” “Chicago,” and 10 other travel-themed tunes.
  • Glen Campbell’s Greatest Hits, featuring not only “Wichita Lineman,” “By The Time I Get To Phoenix,” “Galveston,” and “Rhinestone Cowboy,” but also Glen’s take on Jackson Browne’s “These Days.”
  • Radiohead’s Kid A, one of the most challenging albums ever to enjoy instant platinum commercial success (or so I’ve read at Wikipedia). To top that, this is the collector’s edition with 15 extra tracks of radio and live performances — 23 tracks in all for just $5.
  • Murdering Oscar (And Other Love Songs) by Patterson Hood, one of the two main singer/guitarist/songwriters in the outstanding Southern rock band Drive-By Truckers. This is Hood’s second side project, and it was very well-received last June.
