Chicago Blizzard of 1967

While waiting for Racine to be buried by the Blizzard of 2011, many of us here in southeastern Wisconsin and northeastern Illinois are recalling the great Chicago blizzard of 1967. That storm — on January 26, 1967 — dumped 23 inches of snow on northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana, particularly in Chicago’s south suburbs.

Here’s another video recounting that 1967 snowstorm, taken from a WTTW presentation. Chicago weather in January often includes at least one good snowfall and a few below-zero days, but the the astonishment in the voices of these Chicagoans singles 1967 out as one impressive event.
