Several notable items flowing through Twitter this morning:
- With their North American tour beginning tonight in West Palm Beach, Florida, Coldplay is giving away their live album LeftRightLeftRightLeft via a free download here. (Thanks, @eileenski49, for that tip.)
- Via Milwaukee Journal Sentinel TV & radio columnist Tim Cuprisin (Twitter: @Cuprisin) comes a link to Jane Matenaer’s goodbye from 99.1 WMYX after nearly 25 years in Milwaukee morning radio. As Tim tweets, “Everybody in radio’s vulnerable right now… Except, maybe, Mark Belling.” You can still find Jane on Facebook.
Update: Tim Cuprisin has more details in his “Inside TV & Radio” column. - Tech journalist Leo Laporte (Twitter: @LeoLaporte) tweets a link to his Tumblr post of a photo Charlie Gower saw via Adam Crowe, who saw it at InfoMarketingBlog. It’s an August, 1935 item from Modern Mechanix entitled “Robot Messenger Displays Person-to-Person Notes In Public.” And, as halwebguy comments, “This was way better than Twitter. It had a revenue model!”
- Finally, @eatwisconsin (Twitter channel of the delightful EatWisconsin.com food blog), sends a link to a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel story, “Wisconsin’s morel hunters seek a taste of the wild.” In this article, we learn about the 27th Annual Morel Mushroom Festival that’s going on this weekend in Muscoda, Wisconsin, and we start to scheme and consult Google Maps.

They actually let Jane say goodbye? Normally the radio is like the mafia and they disappear overnight. Regardless, I never cared for her and I stopped listening to 99.1 after Dan disappeared. I loved Jane WITH Dan. It was never the same after Dan left and it was the reason why I switched to 1400 AM.
Not that I love their morning program any better. (sigh) Poor radio.
That's funny. I started listening more after Dan departed. He was such a pompous and bloated, well, you get the point.
I, one of many (per her Facebook page), will miss her real banter and human opinions.
Who makes these stupid decisions anyway? Who's to say why they lose listeners. Could it be the constant replaying of popular songs. Nonstop Christmas music for 35 days. Please, maybe it's Kidd. Personally, being a middle aged female, I can't relate to him. I will miss Jane's view on life. I looked forward to her making it real for Kidd. BIG MISTAKE WMYX !!!!!!
I listened to 99.1 because of Jane, I like Kidd but find him to be young and naive about life sometimes. Jane made me laugh and if she finds her way to another radio station I will be changing to that station. Why would you automatically assume that the rating were because of Jane?
I totally agree, I DO NOT like the show with "Kidd O'hea & Elizabeth Kay - Hey" They now sound silly and insipid. Jane was a real talent and gave Kidd his edge. Now it sound like 2 twelve year olds. Bad move! I don't like the music the other stations play, but I will not subject myself to this new morning show. It's my IPOD now - no more radion too bad.
I MISS JANE!
