Goya pasta: Pumpkin/Calabaza

Goya pasta pumpkins

April 4, 2009 6:44 PM

Amy made a trip to Racine Produce today, and came home with this bag of pasta pumpkins. “They’re so cute! I had to get them,” she beamed.

Looking at the ingredients, I find neither pumpkin nor calabaza listed, just semolina, FD&C Yellow No. 5, FD&C Yellow No. 6, and so on.

Still, this might be an idea to file away for future reference when Halloween approaches. Maybe we could try to replicate the Pasta Shrimp Voodoo we have had at Heaven on Seven with these fluted bowl-shaped noodles, come October. Got any other suggestions?

The bag notes that these are “Special Edition / Edición Especial,” so I’m figuring they’ve probably been waiting for Amy since last October.

Oh, well. Nothing that seven or eight minutes in a rolling boil can’t fix.
