Lidia’s Italy coming to Milwaukee Public Market

Yesterday we stopped at the Milwaukee Public Market and Amy noticed a poster announcing that Lidia Bastianich will be appearing there for a cooking class and book signing this Saturday, December 1 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $75 from MPTV Friends. That price supports Milwaukee Public Television and includes a copy of her latest book, Lidia’s Italy.

Lidia, host of the PBS shows Lidia’s Family Table and Lidia’s Italy, is one of our favorite TV chefs. We love to watch her cooking with her mother or granddaughter, or shopping in the markets of Italy. Our own family members are still raving about her recipe for Ziti with Sausage, Onions, and Fennel that Amy served back in September. It couldn’t be easier or tastier.

The Milwaukee Public Market is a big, open, indoor collection of specialty food shops featuring everything from an oyster bar to Hawaiian plate lunches to gourmet cheeses, spices, and Italian delicacies. Up the stairs on the balcony level are café tables and a demonstration kitchen where visiting chefs do their thing. It’s a great place for anyone who likes food to spend a weekend afternoon, especially during a Wisconsin winter.
